Promotional Graphics

Overview

I was digging through a bunch of folders the other day and ran across banners and one-off promotional images I had made throughout the year for SignUpGenius. Felt this was a nice little time capsule of the varied (and often unusual) requests that land on my desk.

All of these are quick jobs — email headers, banners, social media posts, etc. It’s notable however, that for a 10 year old business, it’s quite an oddity to lack any sort of brand-unique assets, illustrations, and imagery. So what you’ll find here is truly a grab bag of styles and modified stock photos.

More Sparkle, Please

“You’d like it to be sparkly, right?” “Yes. We’re thinking sparkles.” “Ah yes sounds beautiful. So sparkly text and accompanying graphics, correct?” “Yes — SPARKLE EVERYWHERE.”

Now For Something Completely Different

We all can relate to the design process of “Just keep going, we’ll know it when we see it.” Most projects simply start as “Discount is X — make a handful of concepts.”

Animations

Recently there’s been bandwidth available to spend more time on animations — which are always fun to make. Most of these are email and promotional popups, so file size is a constant concern, but they naturally result in better engagement.

A little foresight is also needed because many promotional items go to different media outlets, so the animated gifs may need some retooling to fit a square format such as Instagram, or a taller rectangle to fit Facebook (which presents its own challenges and restrictions).

Everyone Likes Arcade Games Right?

They probably do! But maybe not. But probably. This wound up on the cutting room floor after round one — once the planned campaign messaging and target audience was more thoroughly considered.
