Charleston Light Poster
Charleston Light Poster
The Charleston Light, also known as Sullivan's Island Lighthouse, is the only U.S. lighthouse with an elevator and air conditioning, and was the last onshore manned lighthouse to be built by the Federal Government. Considered the most modern of all the lighthouses (and perhaps the only ugly lighthouse), the Charleston Light was automated in 1975 and has a range of over 26 nautical miles with a characteristic of two 0.2s flashes separated by 4.8s every 30s. Originally painted red/orange and white, locals declared it to be too ugly and distracting, so it was repainted to what we see today. Splashes of red paint still can be seen under the black. This museum-quality poster is printed on thick matte paper in vibrant color.
